Fall back — Achoo!

It’s time to “fall back,” at least that’s what the clock told me to do.

Well, I really fell back. Literally. My entire family fell back in fact.

Susan and Dan sick for Halloween!

Susan and Dan sick for Halloween!

The flu, strep, you name it, it hit my family over the past two weeks. And it threw us for a loop! From one bedroom to the next our house was like a hospital ward. My daughter came down with the flu first and it was a doozy. Of course, my close mothering mothered me right into being sick along with her. My husband was next and then my son.

We have houseguests, too! Nothing like welcoming them with a big box of Kleenex and disinfectant wipes!

While the masked photo of me and my husband, Dan, on Halloween seemed perfect for the occasion, it wasn’t a costume. Not knowing if our germs were at the infectious stage, we wanted to be safe.

I’m not 100% yet, but I feel in rock star form because after feeling so bad, any improvement is an incredible feeling. It’s amazing to be feeling better. And I’m so thankful for my family and friends who helped me and my family and for patient doctors!

The main feeling and I guess realization during the down days in our house was being reminded of what so many of our Make-A-Wish children and families go through every day. When I felt my worst, my heart broke knowing how many of our children never really know when those “rock star” days will return. And the care of their families can never ease up.

So I’m back to health with renewed energy and sense of purpose to make sure the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan remains the best medicine we can give our kids. And that’s the medicine of joy!

Achoo!

Fondly,
Susan
