Joy is defined as the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying.
To wish for something is to want, desire or long for something.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan is in the business of bringing these two things together through the granting of wishes to children suffering from life-threatening medical conditions in order to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy! And nothing lets us know we are impacting families and fulfilling our important mission more than the feedback we receive from our families. Last year alone we granted more than 400 special and unique wishes, and here are just a few “joyful” comments we received about their experiences:

Micheal, age 14, "I wished to be a dolphin trainer!"
“I cannot express to you in words how much it meant to us, to have this time together, no thoughts of medical treatments or hospital stays…”The days were packed full of fun, but yet relaxing. The kids really enjoyed the warmth and water. Watching Micheal interacting with the dolphins is a sight I will never forget. His face was nothing but pure joy!” – Wish Parent’s, Debra & Steve

Elora, age 4, "I wished to go to Walt Disney World Resort!"
“Make-A-Wish gave Elora reasons to smile last week and every time she thinks back to her trip. I’m finding it difficult to capture the joy we felt and saw in Elora’s eyes into words. She never stopped smiling and her smiles just grew in size! Elora’s wish came true (and so did ours)!” – Wish Parents, Charles & Leah

Lauren-Elise, age 14, "I wished to swim with dolphins!"
“The best part for us was to see the joy in Lauren-Elise’s face as she finally played and swam with the dolphins; it brought tears to our eyes. The experience as a whole was an adventure of a lifetime and the memories we will cherish forever!” – Wish Parents, Bruce & Marie Louise
